Second teen arrested in shooting that killed Lexington high school student

A second arrest has been made in a Lexington murder case that left a 16-year-old dead in early March, according to the Lexington Police Department.

Police announced Monday evening that a 16-year-old was charged with murder in connection to the death of Arsenio Jackson Jr., who was also 16. The teen is being held at a Fayette County Juvenile Detention Center.

Jackson was found dead from a gunshot wound in the 700 block of Rambling Creek Drive, near Liberty Road and Liberty Elementary School, on March 4, police said. Jackson was a junior at Henry Clay High School, according to an FCPS spokesperson.

About one week after the shooting, a 17-year-old was arrested and charged with murder, police previously said. The teen is also being held at a juvenile detention center.

The shooting was the third of Lexington’s five reported homicides of 2025, according to police data. At least one arrest has been made in each of the killings, and multiple people have been arrested in four of the cases.
