A man has been charged with arson in a Frankfort house fire that killed two teenage boys.

Franklin County officials were called around 1 a.m. Wednesday to the 5800 block of Flat Creek Road in rural, northern part of the county, Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy Dewayne Depp said at a news conference Tuesday.

The one-story home was engulfed in flames when fire officials arrived, and searchers eventually found two teens and a dog dead inside the home.

Soon after finding the bodies, Dustin Fields, 43, was arrested and charged with first-degree arson.

Police have not said if he was related to either of the boys. He is being held at Franklin County Regional Jail and may face additional charges, Depp said.

The victims have not been identified.

“Our investigation has really just begun,” said Daniel Wills, a captain of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
