Man shot, killed in Lexington. Police charge woman with murder.

A man was shot and killed early Friday in Lexington, and police later said they have charged a woman with his murder.

The shooting happened around 5:50 a.m. on the 300 block of Newtown Pike, according to the Lexington Police Department. The victim was taken to a hospital but died later Friday morning.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Elmer Eldridge, 24, of Lexington. Eldridge was declared dead at 6:26 a.m. at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Mia White, 40, was arrested and charged with murder – domestic violence, police announced Friday night. She was being held in the Fayette County Detention Center.

Eldridge is scheduled to undergo an autopsy Saturday at the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

All parties involved in the shooting have been identified, police said. Detectives with the Personal Crimes Section are investigating the homicide.

This is the sixth homicide of 2025 in Lexington and the first since March 11, according to Lexington police data. All five of the previous homicide cases have featured at least one arrest.
