Lexington man arrested on attempted murder, kidnapping charges in Florida

A Lexington man has been charged with attempted murder and kidnapping after he allegedly shot another Lexington man in Florida, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

Tobias McDonald, 30, showed up unannounced at a home on Beechwood Avenue in Sarasota, Florida, and demanded to see a woman from Lexington.

Some of the people gathered at the home knew McDonald was in the area for vacation, according to the sheriff’s office.

McDonald entered the home and shot a man, also from Lexington. The sheriff’s office said the man was taken to a local hospital, but no details about his medical condition were provided.

McDonald left the home with the woman but was was apprehended Sunday. The sheriff’s office said he has been charged with attempted murder, domestic kidnapping, and two additional kidnapping charges.

McDonald is being held at the Sarasota County Correctional Facility, according to the sheriff’s office.
