Lexington police continue search for missing teens after finding vehicle

The Lexington Police Department is still searching for two missing, endangered teenagers after officers found the vehicle they were last seen in Thursday night.

The vehicle, a white 2020 Acura ILX, was found at the Loradale Market in the 6800 block of Russell Cave Road. Police said detectives with the Personal Crimes Section were conducting a search warrant at the business and found the vehicle but not the teenagers.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office was also at the scene of the investigation, according to police. WKYT reported they were searching for human remains, but none were found.

The teenagers, 15-year-old Aoun Basboos and 16-year-old Ali Naqvi, were last seen getting in the back seat of the Acura around 5:50 p.m. Sunday on the 3300 block of Spangler Drive. Police said the car was spotted on Hume Bedford Road in Bourbon County about an hour later.

The car is considered a vehicle of interest in a shots-fired investigation that occurred on the same date and time as the teens’ disappearance, according to police. The teens are believed to be in imminent danger.

Naqvi is 6-foot-2, around 210 pounds and was last seen wearing a black jacket, according to police.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Basboos and Naqvi is encouraged to call 911 or Lexington police at 859-258-3600. Detectives are also asking people with information about the Acura’s whereabouts between 6-9 p.m. Sunday to contact police.

“During that timeframe, detectives believe the vehicle traveled out of Fayette County and into surrounding counties in Central Kentucky. Anyone who may have seen the vehicle or Aoun and Ali during that time is asked to contact the Lexington Police Department,” police said in a news release.
