Inmate from Lexington escaped KY jail by pretending to be his brother, police say

Kentucky State Police say they are looking for an inmate from Three Forks Regional Jail who escaped by pretending to be his brother.

Jeffrey Harrison, 43, of Lexington, was “inadvertently released after falsely identifying himself as his brother, who was scheduled for release,” state police said in a news release.

State police said Harrison left the Beattyville jail just before 5 p.m. Thursday, and his escape was not discovered until jail staff conducted roll call Friday night.

State police were notified of his release just before 11 p.m. Friday.

Harrison was serving time for a conviction for first-degree promoting contraband.

He is described as a white man with brown hair and blue eyes, standing 5-foot-9 and weighing 138 pounds. He was last seen wearing “a red jacket, blue jeans, camo shoes and a black hat,” state police said.

He is thought to have left in a white older model Subaru station wagon.

State police asked that anyone with information call them at 859-623-2404.
