A deputy with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office shot and killed a man Friday afternoon, Kentucky State Police said.

Deputies were called to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home on Shockley Road in Scottsville, state police said in a news release.

When they arrived, the deputies found Joshua R. Stanka, 42, of Brownsville, armed with a gun, according to state police. State police said one of the deputies shot Stanka, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting happened at 4:30 p.m.

The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating.
