More than 2,000 prescription pills, 100 guns found during search of KY home
Police found more than 2,000 prescription pills and 100 guns during a recent undercover drug investigation in Perry County, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation, which began last year, focused on 68-year-old Chester Couch, who lives on Typo Road in Bonnyman. The sheriff’s office said investigators conducted a drug search warrant at Couch’s home and found about 2,247 prescription pills, 120 guns, methamphetamine and a large amount of cash.
Couch was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (opiates), third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and first-degree possession of methamphetamine, the sheriff’s office said. He was being held at the Kentucky River Regional Jail before posting a $10,000 bond Friday.
Couch is scheduled to appear in Perry District Court for an arraignment on July 1, according to court records.
The investigation into Couch’s activity is ongoing, and it’s expected to be presented to a federal grand jury, the sheriff’s office said.
Other agencies that contributed to the investigation were the Hazard Police Department, Kentucky State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration, according to the sheriff’s office.
