Man accused of Central KY murder arrested by Montana SWAT team

A man accused of a recent Central Kentucky homicide was arrested Wednesday in Montana, according to the Missoula Police Department.

Jesse Lewis, 31, had arrest warrants on charges of murder, auto theft and tampering with physical evidence in the death of 47-year-old Michael Walker, of Florida, according to TV station WKYT. Walker was found dead June 4 at an apartment on Athens Boonesboro Road in Clark County.

About one week after the homicide, investigators determined Lewis was in the Missoula area, specifically in the 2200 block of Mullan Road. Missoula police said they deployed a special weapons and tactics team and issued a shelter-in-place advisory because of the nature of Lewis’ charges.

Lewis was arrested without incident, according to Missoula police. The shelter-in-place advisory was lifted shortly after the arrest.

Missoula police said they are working with out-of-state authorities to extradite Lewis to Kentucky. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
