Inmate on the run after walking away from facility in Madison County, cops say
Officials are searching for an escaped inmate after Kentucky State Police said he walked away from a facility in Madison County.
Jarod Barnes, 28, of Elizabethtown, walked away from the Bluegrass Career and Development Center just before 6:45 p.m. Sunday, state police said. He was last seen wearing a white tank top, black sweatpants and white tennis shoes.
Barnes is described as 5-foot-9, about 206 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, according to state police. He also has several tattoos on his chest and arms.
Barnes has connections to Elizabethtown, Jefferson County, Hardin County and surrounding counties.
Barnes was serving time after pleading guilty to possession of engaging in organized crime — criminal syndicate and first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) in June 2023, according to state police. His sentence began in May 2023 and was expected to run until July 2036, court records show.
Anyone with information about Barnes’ whereabouts is encouraged to call local law enforcement or State Police Post 7 at 859-623-2404.
Three inmates escaped from the same facility in less than a month last spring. It’s unknown if the inmates were ever found.
