Nearly 200 people arrested during Kentucky State Police drug operation
A statewide roundup targeting suspected drug networks has resulted in the arrest of 197 people from all over the state, Kentucky State Police said Friday.
State police said 490 charges have been filed.
As part of the roundup, state police confiscated 3,002 grams of fentanyl, 1,176 grams of cocaine, 6,046 grams of methamphetamine, 408 grams of heroin, 600 fentanyl pills, 97 hydrocodone doses, 127 oxycodone doses and 67 doses of hallucinogens with a street value of more than $640,000, according to state police.
They said they also seized 82 guns, $181,381 in cash and stolen goods valued at $200,000. One stolen vehicle was also recovered.
“This mission was about more than making arrests, it was about disrupting the criminal enterprises that threatens the safety and health of Kentuckians,” KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. said in a news release.
All 16 Kentucky State Police posts participated in the roundup, dubbed Operation Summer Heat 2.0.
The posts in Elizabethtown and Pikeville made the most arrests with 30 each.
Police said they are continuing to investigate, and more arrests are expected.
Last year, 206 people were arrested in a similar operation.
“Every Kentuckian should be safe and feel safe, and no Kentucky family should feel the pain of losing a loved one to addiction,” Gov. Andy Beshear said in the release.
