KY man dies after consuming ‘substantial’ amount of meth before arrest, cops say

A Kentucky man died of a suspected drug overdose Saturday while in police custody, according to Kentucky State Police.

Brian Turner, 47, of Somerset, was arrested Friday at a home on Kentucky Route 1676 by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service.

State police said authorities were at the home serving an arrest warrant, but the details of the warrant were not released.

Before Turner was detained, he consumed a substantial amount of suspected methamphetamine, state police said. Emergency medical services were called to the scene, and he was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, where he died the next day.

An autopsy was performed Monday, but the ingested methamphetamine is believed to have been a contributing factor in Turner’s death, according to state police. A toxicology report is pending.

State police are investigating Turner’s death.
