  • Police charged Brian Epperson with murder and video voyeurism in Kentucky.
  • Authorities linked Epperson to two overdose deaths and hidden camera recordings.
  • Winchester police seek residents who hired or knew Epperson in the past 3 years.

Winchester police are asking people to contact them if they had a relationship with or had work done in their homes by a Clark County man who has been charged with murder and video voyeurism.

In two separate incidents in recent months, Brian Epperson, 44, of Winchester, was present when women died of drug overdoses at lodging he had rented. Epperson has been charged with murder in one of those cases.

Epperson was also charged with video voyeurism after police found a recording device hidden in a digital clock they say he placed in a Winchester woman’s bedroom.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Winchester Police Department said in a Facebook post they would like to talk to “anyone that has had a personal relationship with Brian Epperson, has used Brian Epperson as a contractor, or Brian Epperson has had access to, or completed maintenance inside your residence in the past three years.”

Anyone who fits that description should contact Detective Sgt. Reed at mreed@winchesterky.com or call 859-745-7418.

On May 31, Kristen Morris, 32, was found dead in an Airbnb Epperson had rented on Patsy Road in Stanton, according to court records. Epperson was present when Morris died.

Toxicology results weeks later showed that Morris died of a methamphetamine overdose that the coroner said involved much more of the drug than a “typical overdose,” court records state.

The coroner found “tablets filled with an unknown substance” at the scene.

Then, just after midnight on June 27, the Winchester Police Department received a call about a missing person. A family member of the missing woman had used an app to track her phone to a Red Roof Inn.

Winchester police said they found the woman unresponsive in a hotel room Epperson had rented. She was pronounced dead soon after, court records state.

“As officers investigated the crime, the same style capsules were located in a bag in Brian Epperson’s truck,” court records state. “Those tablets were consistent with the ones in Powell County (that) contributed to the overdose death of Kristen Morris, which he was also present for.”

Winchester police said Epperson bought the methamphetamine in Lexington and filled the capsules with it.

And on June 30, a Winchester police detective was interviewing Epperson’s ex-girlfriend at her home in Winchester when he found a recording device in her bedroom.

The woman told police Epperson had bought and placed in her bedroom a digital clock that police said was found to have “a hidden audio and video port” in it. A micro SD card found inside the clock stored data, police said in a citation filed in Clark District Court.

Police said a search warrant executed on Epperson’s phone uncovered a saved video showing the woman engaged in a sexual performance that had been recorded through the clock without her knowledge.

Epperson has been charged with murder in Powell County and video voyeurism in Clark County.

He is also facing charges of first-degree possession of methamphetamine in Clark and Powell counties.

He is being held in the Clark County Detention Center.
