A former University of Kentucky basketball player was arrested in Lexington Sunday.

Ramel Bradley, 40, was charged with trespassing, resisting arrest and multiple other charges, near Seventh Street at 2:50 a.m. on July 27.

Bradley “intentionally prevented” an officer from arresting him, “using physical force or creating a substantial risk of causing physical injury,” according to the Lexington Police Department arrest citation.

The citation said Bradley was driving a car without a valid license and officers found him in possession of marijuana.

Bradley was arrested about 35 minutes after officers arrived at the scene. He was charged with resisting arrest, having no vehicle operators license, possession of marijuana, criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct, according to Kentucky Court of Justice documents.

Bradley was released from custody July 28. His arraignment is scheduled for August 1.

In June 2023, Bradley was cited by the Franklin County Sheriff for speeding in a work zone in a vehicle with no registration plate or proper registration receipt, according to court records.

Bradley, nicknamed “Smooth,” played in 128 games at Kentucky (with 62 starts) between 2004 and 2008 for Tubby Smith and Billy Gillispie. He averaged 10.4 points per game for the Wildcats in his four years and earned All-SEC First Team honors during his senior season.

After graduation, Bradley played professional basketball overseas.

According to UK, Bradley had returned to the Commonwealth in 2017 to join AppHarvest, the now bankrupt startup that intended to build and operate a dozen indoor farms and feed thousands using modern agricultural technology.
