Crystal Rogers’ case: Steven Lawson sentenced to 17 years in prison
One of three men convicted in the disappearance and presumed death of Bardstown mother Crystal Rogers was sentenced Wednesday to 17 years in prison.
Steven Lawson, 51, of Chaplin, was sentenced for charges of conspiracy to commit murder and evidence tampering. He was the first person convicted in Rogers’ disappearance.
Rogers was last seen July 3, 2015, and is presumed dead. Her body has never been found.
Nelson County Circuit Judge Charles Simms III upheld a jury’s recommendation that he serve 17 years.
Lawson was convicted in June by a Warren County jury. He asked that the verdict be tossed out just days after he was found guilty.
His son, Joseph Lawson, 34, was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder and evidence tampering at a separate trial in July. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
In a joint trial with Joseph Lawson, 43-year-old Brooks Houck was convicted of murder and evidence tampering. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Houck was Rogers’ boyfriend at the time of her disappearance.
Joseph Lawson and Houck’s sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 21.
