Man shot, killed on Bryan Station Road in Lexington. Woman charged with murder

A man was shot and killed Sunday night in Lexington, and a woman was charged with murder, according to the Lexington Police Department.

The shooting happened just before midnight in the 1700 block of Bryan Station Road. Officers responded to a report of a shooting with a victim and found a man shot at the scene.

The man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Edwin Haddix, 42.

Haddix was declared dead from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the coroner’s office.

Keaira Pennie, 30, was arrested a short time later, police said. She is charged with murder and is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

Pennie had no prior criminal history, according to court records.

Detectives from the Personal Crimes Unit are investigating the shooting.

The fatal shooting is the 16th homicide in Lexington this year, according to police data. At this time last year, there were nine homicides.
