A man faces several charges after police say he broke into a home in Frankfort and shot and killed a juvenile and injured a man.

Makale Marks, 27, is charged with murder, first-degree assault and one count apiece of first-degree burglary, wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

The shooting happened around 11:15 a.m. Saturday at an apartment on Ashwood Court. The juvenile was shot in the head, and the man was shot in the neck. Police said Marks was an acquaintance of the victims.

Both victims were taken to University of Kentucky Hospital in critical condition. Police said later Monday that the juvenile, a male, died at the hospital.

Police did not release the name of the juvenile.

Police found Marks near the apartment wearing only shorts and shoes, according to the citation. The injured man provided a clothing and weapon description to police before being flown to the hospital, and the clothing and weapon were found in a nearby trash can.

One of the bullets fired by Marks went through a wall and into another apartment, according to his arrest citation.

Frankfort police are investigating the shooting.
