19-year-old man shot, killed near downtown Lexington. Police search for suspect

A 19-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday night in Lexington, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

The shooting happened around 8:15 p.m. in the 500 block of East Seventh Street. The Lexington Police Department said it received a report of a shooting with a victim, and when officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The coroner’s office identified him as Ja’Zarion Robinson, of Lexington.

Police did not release any information about a suspect. Detectives from the personal crimes section are investigating the shooting.

The shooting is the city’s 17th homicide this year and the first since mid-August, according to Lexington police crime data. Robinson is the fifth person younger than 20 to die by homicide this year.
