Juvenile injured in Friday afternoon shooting in Lexington

A teenager was taken to a hospital after being shot in Lexington on Friday afternoon.

The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening, said Lt. Brian Baker of the Lexington Police Department.

The shooting, near Georgetown Street at Elm Street and Charles Avenue, was reported at 4:13 p.m.

Baker said there were six suspects. While Baker did not have a clear description of the suspects, he confirmed that witnesses said at least some of them were wearing masks and appeared to be young.

A man who was nearby said he had heard gunshots and that there were numerous people outside at the time.

Lexington police asked area residents and businesses to check their surveillance cameras for any footage that might help the investigation.
