A Central Kentucky car repair owner pleaded guilty to a federal charge after investigators found he withheld more than $800,000 in taxes owed to the government.

Kevin Hall, the owner of Jessamine County auto repair company HRS Autocare, pleaded guilty Oct. 16 to one count of willful failure to collect or pay over tax.

Hall operated two HRS Autocare repair shops — in Nicholasville and one in Wilmore.

According to his plea agreement, Hall failed to withhold taxes from employees’ paychecks, including federal income taxes, Medicare and Social Security between 2017 and 2024.

In June 2019 alone, Hall caused the business to withhold $11,500 of federal taxes from workers’ paychecks, according to the court document.

In total, Hall failed to pay more than $835,251 to the Internal Revenue Service.

Hall faces up to five years in prison and a potential fine up to $250,000.

His sentencing is scheduled for February 6, 2026.
