A Lexington man facing eviction was arrested Sunday after police say he beat his mother and fled from officers.

The incident began just before 6 p.m. when police received a report of domestic violence at a home in the 2900 block of Winter Garden Drive. When officers arrived, they found a woman with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The woman told police that Calain Myers, 22, struck her in the face multiple times. Court documents say her injuries included swollen eyes, bruised cheeks and a cut next to her nose.

The victim was Myers’ mother, according to court documents.

Officers at the scene thought Myers had barricaded himself inside the home with a gun, but they later learned he had left the area, according to police. Officers found Myers driving in the Hamburg area and attempted to pull him over, but he got out of the vehicle and ran away.

Officers chased Myers into the Rafferty’s Restaurant on Alysheba Way and apprehended him, court documents say. He was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree fleeing or evading police.

Drugs are suspected to have been involved in the incident, according to court documents. Myers is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

Myers, whose listed address is in the 2900 block of Winter Garden Drive, the same address where the beating happened, was given an eviction notice Oct. 6 after failing to pay rent for three months, according to court documents. Between the three missed rent payments and late fees, Myers owed more than $3,000.
