An undercover investigation by Kentucky State Police has resulted in the arrest of a Clark County man, now facing several child sexual exploitation charges.

James Matthew Calvert, 21, is currently being held in the Clark County Detention Center, a Wednesday KSP news release stated.

Calvert was arrested Oct. 20 after KSP’s electronic crime branch began investigating him allegedly sharing images of child sexual exploitation online. Police then executed a search warrant at a home in Winchester and seized equipment they say was used to commit the crime. It was taken to KSP’s forensic lab for further examination.

The 21-year-old faces 20 counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance. According to KSP the charges are Class B felonies, punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison. It is unclear if Calvert has an attorney.

The investigation is ongoing, police say.
