Victim identified after deadly shooting at Lexington home

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was killed in his home Friday afternoon.

Thomas Kriegel, 81, was pronounced dead Oct. 24 at a home in the 400 block of Lakebow Court off Squires Road, near Jacobson Park.

Around 12:55 p.m. that day, Lexington police officers were dispatched to the home for a death investigation, according to a news release from the department.

When officers arrived, they located Kriegel in his living room. He had been shot once. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:38 p.m. and later identified by the coroner.

The coroner’s office and police department’s Personal Crimes Detectives are continuing to investigate.
