Lexington cyclist killed in hit-and-run crash on Georgetown Road

A Lexington bicyclist who was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Saturday has been identified, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

Jose Luis Hernandez Sosa, 59 from Lexington, was killed Saturday night in a crash at Georgetown Road and Price Road, near the New Circle Road exit, the Lexington Police Department said Sunday.

Police arrived on the scene shortly after 11 p.m. and found a male cyclist injured, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash shortly before midnight due to his injuries, according to the coroner’s office.

The driver that hit Sosa has not been identified. Police are investigating the incident, and the Collision Reconstruction Unit was on the site of the crash overnight.
