Lexington hospital employee accused of sexually assaulting patient
A nurse tech at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital has been accused of sexually assaulting a patient.
A woman who was in the hospital after spinal surgery told the Lexington Police Department that employee Johnnie Sparkman assaulted her Oct. 23.
Police said they responded to a call about the incident Oct. 26.
The woman said that in her condition at the time, “she could not get away, deeming her helpless,” according to a complaint warrant filed in Fayette District Court by Lexington police.
Sparkman, 62, of Richmond, is charged with first-degree sodomy.
He was being held in the Fayette County Detention Center Tuesday night.
