Lexington police investigate shooting that left one man dead Thursday night

The Lexington Police Department says it has identified the victim and suspect in a Thursday night shooting that left a man dead.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 in the 3400 block of Blazer Parkway, near Valvoline World Headquarters and CHI Saint Joseph Health — East Hospital. Police said officers found a man with a gunshot wound in a parking lot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Andrew Boyd, 45, in a release Friday afternoon. No additional details on the incident were provided.

The identity of the shooter was not released. Police said detectives are investigating the case and do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

This is Lexington’s 21st homicide of the year, according to police data. At this time last year, the city had 19 homicides.
