Northern KY police shoot, kill man who was threatening to harm himself, KSP says

Police on Sunday shot and killed a man who was threatening to harm himself in Northern Kentucky, according to Kentucky State Police.

David Works, 62, was shot and killed by officers after he emerged around 7:30 a.m. from a home on Sharpsburg Drive in Independence with a gun in his hand, according to KSP. He had called police threatening to harm himself.

Officers with the Independence Police Department and the Kenton County Police Department responded to the call.

KSP did not release additional details about the shooting, including if officers with the local or county police department fired shots.

No officers were injured.

KSP investigates all shootings involving police officers in Kentucky.
