Lexington man arrested in overdose death of 18-month-old in 2022
A Lexington man has been arrested in the 2022 overdose death of an 18-month-old boy, according to police.
Kadarrius Warren, 26, was arrested Feb. 4 and charged with the murder of Cho’zyn Wilson.
Cho’zyn died of an overdose, according to Lexington police. An autopsy found lethal amounts of fentanyl and acetylfentanyl in his blood stream, according to court documents.
The arrest comes three years after his death in August 2022. At the time, police were called to a home on Charles Avenue, where they found Cho’zyn unresponsive.
In January, a witness told detectives Warren and his girlfriend used drugs in a room with Wilson present, according to court documents. Wilson and his girlfriend passed out, and when they woke up, they found Wilson unconscious.
Warren was the person who called 911 to report the incident, court documents say. He hung up after telling a dispatcher that Wilson was not breathing, and he was not at the scene when officers arrived.
Police interviewed a woman when they arrived. The woman told detectives Warren and his girlfriend were staying at the Charles Avenue home and had babysat Wilson for several days, according to court documents.
Detectives interviewed another resident of the home who said he allowed Warren and his girlfriend to stay at the home in exchange for fentanyl, according to court documents.
Hours before Wilson died, Warren was in contact with two other people associated with drug trafficking, court documents say. Phone records show that Warren left and returned to the Charles Avenue home during the communications.
Police did not disclose the relationship between Wilson and Warren.
Detectives with the department’s Crimes Against Children Unit continued to investigate, following up on evidence and information over the last several years, according to police.
Warren is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.
