Two hurt in shooting at large college party in Anderson County

Two people were shot early Saturday after a fight at a party involving 50 to 75 Kentucky State University students in Anderson County, Kentucky State Police say.

“A large party was taking place at Airbnb rental property involving approximately 50–75 Kentucky State University students,” when KSP said a “large altercation broke out.”

Two people, a 19-year-old from Illinois and a 20-year-old from Louisville, were shot and taken to Frankfort Regional Hospital for treatment. Their injuries were not life-threatening, police said in a news release.

KSP said they were called regarding the shots fired on Lover’s Leap Road at 1:27 a.m.

“Detectives attempted to interview several individuals at the scene; however, due to a lack of cooperation, no suspect information was obtained at that time,” the release stated.

Kentucky State University Marketing Director Jessica Holmon said the party involved students, as well as people who are not enrolled at KSU.

“Kentucky State University is aware that both students and non-students were reportedly present and is monitoring the situation closely,” Holman said in a statement Saturday. “Our thoughts are with those who were injured, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Kentucky State Police.”

State police asked that anyone with information call KSP Post 12 at 502-227-2221.
