  • Victim's family seeks funeral funds via GoFundMe that has raised over $10,000

A man was charged with murder after police say he shot and killed another man Sunday in Western Kentucky.

Jerrell Edmonds, 24, is accused of shooting and killing a man around 9:20 a.m. Central Time on Sunday at a home on Springmont Circle in Guthrie, a small city in Todd County.

Edmonds is also accused of punching his wife after the shooting.

Police were called to the home Sunday morning for a report of a man lying in the road suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. One of the calls came from Edmonds, of Lewisburg, police say.

When they arrived, Edmonds was arrested and charged with murder, fourth-degree assault and possession of marijuana in connection.

Edmonds spoke with police after the shooting and said he was looking for his wife and 3-year-old son. Court documents say he found his wife’s vehicle at the home on Springmont Circle, which belonged to Evan Hall, 24.

Court documents described Hall as the boyfriend of Edmonds’ wife. Hall met Edmonds in the street and confronted him about the custody agreement between Edmonds and his wife over their son.

Hall then started walking back toward his home, but Edmonds got out of his truck with a loaded gun. Hall started a fight with Edmonds, who pulled out the gun and shot Hall three times, according to court records.

After the shooting, Edmonds put the gun in his truck and attempted to get his son, according to court documents. That’s when he punched his wife, police said.

The wife had bloody lip and a loose tooth, according to court documents.

Edmonds is being held on a $1.5 million bond, according to court records. His next scheduled court date is a preliminary hearing March 16 in Todd District Court.

A GoFundMe has been created to raise money for Hall’s funeral and travel expenses for his family. As of fundraiser has raised more than $10,000 with the goal of raising $13,000.

Hall enjoyed spending time outdoors with family and friends, according to the GoFundMe, created by Lyndi Hall.

“He was always happiest outdoors, sharing laughter and stories with those he loved most,” Lyndi Hall said on the GoFundMe webpage. “His kindness and adventurous spirit touched everyone who knew him, and his love for his little family was at the center of everything he did.”
