Western Kentucky jailer accused of having inappropriate relationship with inmate
A deputy jailer in Western Kentucky has been charged with having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate at the jail where he worked, according to Kentucky State Police.
An investigation into the allegations began Monday after an inmate at the Ballard County Detention Center reported having sexual contact with Robert Terry, a deputy jailer, in February. State police said investigators reviewed video footage and conducted interviews, which led to charges being filed against Terry.
Terry, 60, is charged with second-degree sexual abuse and first-degree official misconduct, according to state police. Both offenses are class A misdemeanors and could lead to a 12-month prison sentence with a conviction.
State police is investigating the allegations.
