  • Kentucky police say foul play not suspected; autopsy scheduled Wednesday.

A Nashville murder suspect on the run for several weeks was found dead Monday afternoon on the bank of the Cumberland River in Lyon County, according to Kentucky State Police.

Officials received a call around 2 p.m. local time from a person on McKinney Road in Kuttawa reporting that they found a body on the bank of the river. State police said the person was pronounced dead and identified as Darrion Young, 37, of Nashville, Tenn.

Young was wanted for killing his girlfriend, Kierra Timmons, 26, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. He was accused of strangling Thomas inside his apartment in Antioch, a neighborhood about 12 miles southeast of downtown Nashville.

Timmons was found dead during a welfare check March 14, according to Nashville police. One day earlier, state police found her vehicle abandoned on the shoulder of the Interstate 24 Cumberland River bridge, and Young’s driver license was inside the car.

Nashville police previously said investigators could not rule out the possibility that Young jumped into the river. State police said officials searched the river after finding Timmons’ car and subsequent searches were planned for this week.

State police did not provide a cause of death for Young, but said foul play was not suspected. An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday.
