A Northern Kentucky man faces more than 200 felony child sexual abuse charges after officials found a folder of child porn on his phone, according to the Kenton County Commonwealth’s Attorney Office.
Joshua Boykin, 36, of Covington, was arrested Jan. 28 following a domestic dispute with his wife at his Herman Street home. The attorney’s office said his wife found the secret folder of child porn on his phone and called police.
A detective got a search warrant for Boykin’s phone and found “numerous images and videos of child sexual assault material,” the attorney’s office said. Some of the files were obtained from other sources, while some files were created by Boykin, prosecutors say.
Boykin spoke to detectives the day of his arrest and admitted to downloading child porn videos from applications and saving them in a password-protected folder on his phone. The videos featured at least one of his family members and one child younger than 5.
Boykin was indicted Thursday in Kenton County on 15 counts of first-degree rape of a victim 12 or younger, 38 counts of first-degree sodomy of a victim 12 or under, two counts of human trafficking, 50 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a minor under 12, 102 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and 37 counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a victim 12 or under.
Kenton County Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders said the Kenton County indictment involved three child victims. Officials also discovered evidence that suggests Boykin had two additional victims from other jurisdictions.
Boykin is being held at the Kenton County Detention Center. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Kenton Circuit Court on Monday.
