Lexington restaurant owner charged with 21 counts of sexually abusing minor

The owner of a Lexington restaurant was arrested and charged with 21 counts of sexually abusing a teenager, the Lexington Police Department said.

Marcos Jesus Banulos Valdes, 59, was charged Thursday with 17 counts of third-degree rape and four counts of third-degree sodomy involving a 17-year-old victim.

Valdes is the owner of Papi’s Mexican Restaurant & Bar, according to the Secretary of State website. Papi’s has multiple locations in Lexington, including in Chevy Chase, Palomar and on Citation Boulevard.

According to the criminal complaint, Lexington police were informed of the sexual abuse March 27. The victim’s mother told police her child disclosed they had been sexually assaulted by Valdes multiple times between July 2025 and February 2026. The victim also provided evidence to police.

Valdes is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center, police said.
