A Kentucky man was shot and killed Tuesday evening, and his wife is charged with murder.

The fatal shooting happened at a house on Red Banks Road in Cumberland County. State police said the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office originally received a report of a single-vehicle collision and found James Edens, 60, of Burkesville, with a gunshot wound in the vehicle.

Edens was taken to the Cumberland County Hospital but later died, according to state police.

Detectives determined that Edens’ wife, Heather Edens, 52, shot James Edens during an argument just before the collision, according to state police. She was charged with murder and booked into the Adair County Detention Center.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Heather Edens was arraigned in Cumberland District Court Wednesday, according to court records.
