Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly shot a security guard over a drink in Northern Kentucky.

The shooting happened around 1:18 a.m. at Hat Tricks Bar on Madison Avenue in Covington. Police said a man was shot multiple times and taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center in critical condition.

The bar’s owner told WXIX that the victim was a security guard who has worked at the bar for nine years. He told the news station that the guard was attempting to take a drink from a woman who was leaving the bar when a man shot him.

The suspect fled the bar before officers arrived, according to police. Detectives are investigating the shooting.

Residents and businesses in the area surrounding the bar are asked to review surveillance footage that may assist with the investigation. Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact Covington police at 859-292-2234 or provide an anonymous tip to Cincinnati/NKY Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
