Kentucky State Police are investigating after local law enforcement found a woman dead in an Edmonson County recreation area.

Around noon Saturday, state police were contacted by the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office for a possible death at the Dog Creek Recreation Area, about 43 miles from Bowling Green.

When investigators arrived they found 38-year-old Edith Vaughn of Cub Run unconscious inside a green tent.

The Hart County Coroner declared Vaughn dead at the scene.

State police did not report any initial findings or what could have caused Vaughn’s death.

The investigation is ongoing.
