A Kentucky man was federally indicted last week on 10 charges related to stealing money that was intended to go toward veterans’ benefits, according to court records.

Robert Lee Edwards was indicted June 11 in the Eastern District of Kentucky on charges of veterans’ benefit fraud by a judiciary.

Edwards was appointed as a representative to receive money from the secretary of veterans affairs, according to his indictment.

The indictment alleges that on at least 10 occasions in Kenton County between September 2023 and June 2024, Edwards embezzled money from the program.

The indictment does not detail how much money was lost, or how Edwards misused the funds.

For each count, Edwards faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
