Body found in Rockcastle County results in drug arrest; police seize guns, cash and vehicles

A death investigation Monday in Rockcastle County prompted a drug investigation, and police made one arrest and seized drugs, cash and three vehicles.

A body had been found at the Econo Lodge motel, prompting Kentucky State Police to search a house on Lair Street in Mount Vernon, according to a news release.

When police searched the house, they found 281 suspected oxycodone pills, 341 suspected Xanax pills and two suspected Suboxone strips, according to state police.

Police also found 10 long guns, four handguns and half an ounce of marijuana, according to state police. Officers seized a 1974 Chevrolet Corvette, a 2013 Nissan Altima and a 2003 Honda motorcycle.

Police found $13,180 in the house and $10,000 in a safety deposit box at the Peoples Bank of Mount Vernon, according to state police.

Police arrested Logan R. Towery, 68, of Mount Vernon, according to state police. Towery was charged with trafficking a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school.
