Uncle charged with murder in shooting death of Manchester woman

A Clay County man has been charged with murder after police say he shot his niece Monday.

Joe B. Collins, 64, and his niece Goldie E. Bowling, 41, both of Manchester, got into an altercation, and Collins shot Bowling, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police. They were called to Ky. 149 in the Hector community, where the shooting occurred, at 2:35 p.m.

Bowling was taken to Manchester Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy was to be conducted by the state medical examiner.

Collins was arrested at the scene. He was being held in the Clay County Detention Center.
