The man police say shot and killed a teen-ager in downtown Lexington was arrested in Louisville early Thursday.

Robert Benton, 31, was found by a U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force, Lexington police said in a news release. He was charged with murder and could face more charges, Lexington Police Spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

Benton is accused of killing Brian Edward Carr Jr., 19, at 367 East Main Street May 1.

Carr had been at a bar downtown with some friends when gunshots rang out about 2:43 a.m., sending dozens of people running. Two nearby officers heard the shots and found Carr with multiple gunshot wounds.

Carr died a short time later at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

It wasn't clear if Carr knew Benton, who has a lengthy criminal history in Lexington. Benton was on supervised parole from a 2005 case when the shooting occurred.

Roberts said she could not discuss a possible motive.
