Man is indicted on 87 child-porn counts

A man was charged Tuesday after a grand jury indicted him on 87 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a minor.

Eric D. Bryant, 23, was served the indictment while in the McCreary County jail on other charges, according to a release from the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office began an investigation in August 2010 after an undercover police officer in Wheaton, Ill., found someone sharing child pornography across the Internet.

Illinois officials contacted the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office after learning the files being shared had originated in Pulaski County.

The investigation led officers to issue a search warrant for Bryant's residence in Bronston in Pulaski County. In that search, detectives confiscated computers, compact discs, flash drives, cellphones and other electronic storage media.

The items were sent to Kentucky State Police for a forensic examination to find and recover any items of child pornography. The examination resulted in the recovery of 87 images and videos depicting children under the age of 16 engaged in sexual acts.

Bryant remains in the McCreary County jail on a $100,000 cash bond pending transfer to Pulaski County for arraignment.
