A home on Sherman Avenue sustained moderate damage in a fire Saturday night.

No one was inside the house at 279 Sherman Avenue when a neighbor who saw the flames called firefighters at 7 p.m. The occupant of the home was thought to have moved out a few weeks ago, said fire department Battalion Chief Brian Wainscott. He said the cause of the blaze, which started in the front room, was still under investigation. The house sits next door to the Thriftway Food Mart #2.
