A judge found probable cause Tuesday to send the case of Chico Duwan Rucker, charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend, to a Fayette County grand jury.

Rucker, 38, also faces a charge of tampering with evidence in the death of Elmia Farris, 32. An apartment manager found a bag containing Farris' body behind the Marietta Drive apartment complex where she and Rucker lived.

Rucker allegedly killed Farris on June 28, according to court records.

During a preliminary hearing Tuesday, Lexington police Detective Bill Brislin said Rucker and Farris got into an argument. At some point, Farris got on top of Rucker, and he threw her off. Her head hit something, although Brislin later said it's not clear what that was.

In any case, an autopsy of Farris found a bruise on each side of her head, Brislin said.

Fayette District Judge Kim Wilkie found probable cause to send the case to a grand jury, and set a $500,000 bond on Rucker.
