Police arrest juvenile in Duncan Park shooting death

Lexington police have charged a male juvenile with murder in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this month at Duncan Park.

Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said Wednesday that the juvenile was arrested Monday, and that additional arrests and charges are possible.

The juvenile is charged in the death of Antonio Franklin Jr., 21, of Lexington, who was shot in the head at Duncan Park about 6:30 p.m. April 13.

Franklin died the next afternoon at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

Roberts said police continue to think that Franklin was an innocent bystander in the shooting.

He was found lying near some swings at the Duncan Park playground. The park is on Fifth Street between North Limestone and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Police said they received several reports of shots being fired from a car on Sixth Street just minutes before the Duncan Park shooting.
