Fayette County jail sergeant faces sodomy, sexual abuse charges
A sergeant at the Fayette County jail was arrested early Thursday on two counts of first-degree sodomy.
Sgt. John Lowe, 39, was arrested by Lexington police at approximately 8:30 a.m., Fayette County jail director Rodney Ballard said in an email Thursday afternoon. Lowe also was charged with first-degree sexual abuse.
Lowe was initially placed in protective custody at the jail, Ballard's email said. He was released Thursday after posting a $20,000 full cash bond, Fayette County jail spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Taylor said in a release.
Lowe has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of the criminal investigation, Taylor said.
Lowe has worked at the jail since 2002.
