Shots fired into 2 Lexington homes; pair arrested

Two men were arrested Sunday after shots were fired into two homes in south Lexington.

At 12:20 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired into an apartment on Cove Lake Drive, according to a news release from Lexington police. Witnesses told police that the man who shot the building drove off in a small black SUV.

Shortly after, police received a report of shots fired into the front window of a house on Winter Park Drive, police said. Witnesses gave a description of the shooter that was similar to the earlier call on Cove Lake Drive.

About 20 minutes later, the vehicle witnesses described as belonging to the shooter was spotted near Squires Road and Richmond Road, police said. A man matching the description of the shooter was in the vehicle with another man.

There were weapons in the vehicle, police said.

Anthony T. Garrett, 22, was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, fourth-degree assault and criminal mishcief, police said. All of those charges stemmed from an unrelated warrant.

Adrian T. Washington, 18, also was arrested on a charge first-degree wanton endangerment, police said.

Police said they think the shootings were related to a domestic problem. The investigation is continuing.
