Man shot in lot near Eastland Parkway; police search for suspect

One man was shot Tuesday afternoon in a lot behind Parkway Center off Eastland Parkway, Lexington police said.

About 1:15 p.m., police received a report of a person being shot near a vehicle, said Lexington police Lt. Jonathan Bastian.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was conscious when he was taken to a local hospital, Bastian said.

Homicide/robbery detectives were gathered around a gray Ford Mustang in the lot.

A suspect may have fled into the area of nearby Continental Square Apartments and Double Tree Apartment Homes off Meade Court. An officer with a dog was searching the area of those apartments.

Witnesses described the suspect to police as a man who was about 6 feet tall, weighing 160 pounds and wearing all black clothing, Bastian said.
