Man is shot by deputies in McCreary County

A man was listed in serious condition Wednesday at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital after he was shot Tuesday by a McCreary County sheriff’s deputy.

Police were sent to Day Ridge Road about 3 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a man causing a disturbance and brandishing a firearm, according to Kentucky State Police.

Two deputies found a man running from a home, according to state police. The man then allegedly turned and pointed a gun at the deputies.

Deputies then fired at the man, according to state police.

Anthony C. Murphy, 46, of Whitley County was treated at the house and then was flown to UK hospital, according to state police. No officers were injured.
