Fire at vacant house being investigated as arson

An arson investigation has been opened on a fire that damaged a vacant house last week on Haskins Drive in Lexington.

Firefighters were called to the house at 541 Haskins Drive off Newtown Pike about 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 after a neighbor reported smoke coming from the house, Battalion Chief Todd Samuelson said after the fire.

One room was damaged, and there was smoke damage throughout the house, he said. No one was injured.

Battalion Chief Joe Best said anyone with information is being asked to call the fire investigation bureau at (859) 231-5672 or email arsontips@lexingtonky.gov. Tips can be anonymous.

A reward of as much as $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest and an indictment, Best said.
